Our Guest Artist’s Bio…

Meet Mary Kamerer
Mary was born and educated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Charlotte in 1987. She graduated from UNCC and began pursuing an art career shortly after her children were grown. After studying various art forms such as stained glass, watercolor, ceramics, and completing a one-year apprenticeship in goldsmithing,
Mary concentrated on oil painting under the tutelage of Andy Braitman and Curt Butler. Her style is of an impressionistic nature, with liberal use of pallet knives, emphasizing light and shadow. Having her early creative beginnings in black-and-white photography, Mary always starts her paintings with a value study and ends with accentuated light.
You can see her work at Carlton and Sunshine Village Art Galleries. She currently works out of her studio at Dilworth Artisan Station.

Meet Tamery Stafford...
I’m a local artist and designer who began my creative journey after graduating from SCAD and working as an Interior Designer here in Charlotte. My husband and I raised our four boys in the Queen City, where my love for art and teaching others to create has flourished.
As a self-taught watercolor artist, I understand the frustrations that come with learning something new. That’s why I developed Simply Watercolor — a thoughtfully curated approach that makes painting simple, approachable, and enjoyable. For over six years, I’ve taught hundreds of students in person through this process, helping each one grow confident and successful in their creativity.
Beyond watercolor, I’ve exhibited my acrylic work in juried galleries and South End crawls. My joy in creating guides everything I teach, and I love inspiring others to discover the beauty of art for themselves.
